Happy Valentine's Day, aka My Favourite Couples

Sorry for the lack of activity! At least three hours per night working on this dress...but it’s looking nearly done now!!! Only a few things to sew and a zip to sort out because apparently it’s not as neat as it should be... *sigh*

Anyway, it’s Valentine’s Day. To all couples, enjoy this time of romance. To all us single people, enjoy the cheap chocolates tomorrow!

I did a romantic partner for me not that long ago...so for something suitably romantic, here’s my favourite couples from books. This was hard. Because if supporting a romantic couple is a ship, I have an armada. Seriously. But my biggest ships don’t tend to come from books. More TV shows. And films. And radio dramas. Also, I tend to forget people quite often. But here’s the ones that spring to mind, in no particular order.

Micah and Aenea from Pantomime by Laura Lam. Oh the cuteness! The scenes where they go out in the markets and then they go back to the circus and they’re just so perfect together.

Kitty and Delilah from Hollow Pike by James Dawson. Two characters of awesome are together. And it’s really nice having bisexual people defying the stereotype of being complete sluts.

Katniss and Gale from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I don’t get those who ship Katniss and Peeta on the basis that Gale and his love are artificial. They share a connection via their fathers, they look out for each other, and they have such a deep bond that not pairing them doesn’t make sense.

Biffy and Lyall from The Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger. I really do understand the arguments for Akeldama and Biffy. But following the events of book three, with Biffy needing someone to help him adjust, Lyall completes him so well and all the adorableness of Heartless.

Hamlet and Horatio from Hamlet by William Shakespeare. There’s some subtle hints there. My prince. Horatio being willing to die when Hamlet does. And Ophelia and Hamlet doesn’t work because...did you see how terribly he treats her?

Tessa and Jem from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. Jem has so much stuff to worry about, that you just really really want him to have some happiness in his life. Also, cuteness. Also, Will, the other member of this love triangle, is quite an arse.

Crowley and Aziraphale from Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Just because. They suit eachother. There's a lot of mistaking them for a couple. And the William Morrow publishing house made a cover where they just sit there staring at eachother.

Dorian and Basil from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. You can tell from the start that Basil fancies Dorian. And it’s not a ship that would sink. Basil would have sex with Dorian because it’s Dorian, and Dorian would have sex with Basil because it’s sex.

Grell and William from Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji by Yana Toboso. Face palmingly amusing, especially considering Grell flirts with many other people too, and William’s looks of disapproval at her  adventures are not to be missed. Despite all complaining and apologising about Grell’s behaviour,  they love eachother really. Also, my William and Grell RPers are awesome  and the scenes they come up with are adorable.

Charlie and Sam from Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chebosky. I know Sam doesn’t see him romantically, but they are just so sweet together.

Bella and the truck from Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. We’d probably have less love triangles in YA fiction as a result, which  would be refreshing, and there’d be three less books with weak or angsty Mary Sue/Gary Stu main characters. It would be a win win situation!

So...yes. My favourites. Who are yours?
Also, one week to blogoversary. And lots of stuff that's meant to be coming up in the meantime. And half term. All comments appreciated!

    1. Biologically, yes. However, she's also transgender (I think Yana confirmed this at somepoint too) so I refer to Grell with female pronouns.

  5. Love to hear about other people's ships :)

I personally love Ron/Hermione & James/Lily from HP, and there are too many others to count.

And congratulations for your one week blogiversary!
