Happy New Year and other Happenings

It's the Chinese New Year of the Snake. Happy New Year.  I will be celebrating with food. I can't think of any Chinesey books on my  TBR (unless you count  Scarlet, which I'm reading and enjoying, but the focus isn't on China), but if you're a manga fan, you should read Fruits Basket, a cute romcom with too much funny.

My textiles coursework kind of looks like a dress, and kind of doesn't. I've got all the parts for it now! And it's all sewed together (badly). Only a week and a bit more and then freedom... Oh, and apparently, I'm a witch because I've got the skulls from here on it. Hehe....

It was National Libraries Day yesterday. Me being someone who doesn't find out about these things until they're too late, didn't have a long eloquent post about how much I love my library and everything. But I will say that it is practically my second home, my school one is where I spend as many lunchtimes as possible, they always have a friendly atmosphere, and they give you access to such a wide range of things like books, worlds and educations, for so little money, and everyone should love them.

We have a cover for Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon! Vets and aliens...definitely one to check out. And the cover and skyscape is beautiful.

Tanya Byrne's book has a cover and title!  I'll definitely be reading Follow Me Down some day.

If you're reading this before 3pm on Sunday, then you can go and enter Andrew's contest-£13 book from TBD.

I've been good this week! I've been to the library and I have gotten nothing!!! My bookshelves are kind of happy.

I'm going to a writer's group thing. I can't go regularly, because I'm normally doing other stuff, but seeing as my club is cancelled today, I'll be going to it. And maybe skipping my club a bit more if I like this group. I have no idea what to expect because the poster was really vague. But anyway!

I still have a tagline contest happening!
So far I have
-Prevent Death; Drink Tea and Read.
-"Happiness is a cup of tea and a great horror book"
-You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me."
- Watch less, read more
-A variant on the Keep Calm and Carry On thing- maybe Keep reading and drinking tea? Keep calm and keep reading?
-Texting does not count as reading
Thanks for all the suggestions. To be honest, I still want to go with Life's too short to read bad books/Twilight. But...I don't know. I think I might go synonym hunting for Bad.

I have a new design nearly ready! I'll be putting it up sometime during half term....

I've been  reading lots of awesomeness this week! Pantomime, Scarlet, Alchemist of Souls, Witchcraft,  Pure. At some point, there'll be a LOT of gushing and fangirling. Warning in advance.

How's everyone else's week been?

  1. Love Fruits Basket-- it is the funniest manga ever and a huge favorite of mine! Manga is actually Japanese, not Chinese, but cheating's okay if it gives you an excuse to read more manga. ;) Happy Chinese New Year-- oh, and Happy belated National Libraries Day, too.

    1. Fruits Basket is the thing I could think of featuring the Chinese Zodiac... Happy New Year (still within the 2 weeks of celebration...it still counts XD)

  3. I like the idea with "Keep reading and drinking tea", as these are two of my favorite things to do. Now that I am here for the very fist on your blog, I need to ask you: What's your favorite book? What's your favorite tea variety?

Maybe you will also like to check out my blog, as I will really appreciate your feedback. Here it is: http://rivertea.com/blog/

    1. Favourite book...*thinks for a long long time* That's really hard to say, but at the moment, I think The Fault in our Stars. It changes regularly though. Tea variety-black tea with vanilla.
