Cover to ...er, poster- Book to Film

So...yesterday, I went and saw the Woman in Black. Amazing film. Even if I did find the reactions of fellow cinema-goers slightly more interesting than the film itself. And the ending...it shouldn't have been that way! Arthur doesn't die in the book! And he wasn't married! *insert my normal rambling about how the filmmakers totally messed with the book*.

Anyway, here I'm doing cover to cover, with books that have been/will be made into films, and a poster produced. Because a poster is essentially the cover of the film. I did a similar one a while back, but this time, I'm not just looking for the ones that are worse after.
And onwards...Pre-film book cover on the left, poster for the film on the right. And because I'm actually awake for a change, I'm actually focusing on book-to-film adaptations of 2011/2012.

Please leave a comment on what you think of these, and don't forget-international giveaway of Emma Mill's Witchblood!

The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. (review here)
The Woman In Black
I think I prefer the book cover, because it's a bit vaguer, and adds to the mystery. It's interesting that the filmmakers used a similar colour scheme to the book. Book win.

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter  by Seth Grahame-Smith

Once again, the film is trying to draw you in. I think the grey of the book cover is a bit boring, so I prefer the film poster. Film win.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Again, the film poster is more typically intriguing, but I also like the simplicity of the book cover. Draw. Personal comment- Can't wait to see the film! Even if it probably won't live up to all the hype we're giving it....it'll still be fun.

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion
Warm Bodies
RE Film poster- Twilight-y much? I know it's a zombie romance...but that's a little too far.  The simplicity of the tree-y thing of blood definitely made me want to know more about this book, when I first saw the book in shops ages before I started blogging. Book win.

War Horse by Michael Morpurgo

Both of them are really good. I prefer the film cover as there's more cover of it, and  the fire in the background is more representative of what they have to face. Film win.

Book 3~~3  Film
Complete draw.

What do you think of the film posters as opposed to the book covers? Leave opinions elow/

  2. This is a really cool idea for a post! I usually try not to compare books and their cinematic spawn because they're both so different most of the time that it's like apples and oranges. It's interesting to see the book cover vs. movie poster, though. And I've been dying to see The Woman in Black, even though I've heard not so great things about it from quite a few people.
